Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
Now that I read that, he's more of a Magnificent Bastard. XD He'll manipulate from the background, but he gets really bored sometimes and will go out and get in the middle of it.

Character type established. Now think about a situation and how your character will act. Would he be more playful-playing with danger or be more strategic-cautious?

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
It honestly depends on the situation. If he knows he can handle it, he'll be playful and teasing. If not, he'll hang low, think of strategies and be cautious.

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
Well for the pool scene situation (as i cannot think of anything at this moment) I believe mine would have dealt with it differently, like he wouldn't have put the bomb on John. He would have done something else, because the bomb would be something he couldn't control. My version is a micro-manager.

Perhaps poison, some capsule that he could make John swallow and threaten to detonate with a remote control anytime? Or have John restrained, something to keep the man from defending Sherlock.

The first in tied with a need for control, there's the matter of technical knowledge necessary to pull it off because 'because I say so' is unfair to the others. The second, why your Jim need John to be unable to defend Sherlock?

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
I believe Jim would have knowledge on how to pull things off like that though. Just a personal headcanon of mine is that when he's not busy, he's searching for new and inventive ways to murder and torture. Jim needs john unable to defend Sherlock because as you saw in the pool scene, John restrained moriarty when the man was talking...so he needs John to be unable to do anything if he wants to get closer to Sherlock or vice versa.

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
I mean your technical knowledge because always there is chance that someone will try the use of some sort of signal dampener. That is why 'because I said so' only works if you are the game master and the other players have no other choice than comply.
God-modding is loathsome.
Why Jim would want to get closer with Sherlock?

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
Jim would want to for several reasons. To make Sherlock uncomfortable would be number one. In the pool scene, he's trying to get Sherlock off his tail. i also see him as rather fascinated and obsessed with Sherlock, since the man matches his wit and cleverness so would want to get closer for his own wants.

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
From strategic point of view, what is the use of making Sherlock uncomfortable? If Jim succeed to get closer to Sherlock (how close it is), what would he do next? What if Sherlock decide to strike based on the relative close proximity?

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
Jim likes to do things that make people in general uncomfortable, so he'd do it to Sherlock. I see him as very sadistic in that point of view. If sherlock decided to strike, he'd probably use the help of the sniper and get out of there. Have the sniper shoot Sherlock in the leg or vice versa, to use as a distraction to get out.

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
Not a headshot that will permanently take Sherlock off his tail? We know how persistent Sherlock is when it comes to something that take his interest, do your Jim know this?

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
I don't think my Jim knows this. He hasn't been watching Sherlock long, and is still testing out the waters and seeing what he can do to study Sherlock more. He's still interested in seeing if he can turn Sherlock to his way of thinking, because my Jim, while pretty ruthless, is lonely. He doesn't exhibit or show this, but he's interested because of how intelligent Sherlock is.

A streak of recklessness then. If your Jim wants to convert Sherlock to be an ally, why the elaborate game?

Jim, as careful and meticulous as he is, is also very dramatic and playful, and he loves to set the world up like a stage. He read a lot of fairytales as a young boy and often admired the dramatic, even though they were stupid, villains in the stories.

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
More chaotic than strategic. What if Sherlock also involved big brother on the pool scene, how your Jim would anticipate that?

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
He knows that Sherlock hates his brother, so he wouldn't anticipate it. It would be a good idea on Sherlock's part. Also, my Jim is a mix of both, like I said. He's very changeable (to quote the man) and his moods vary repeatedly.

Re: Jim Moriarty...Hi!
Good answer. Too many Jim-players focused to the chaotic side and forgot that he essentially is a strategist & businessman.
So you are searching for a Sherlock or a Sebastian Moran or an Irene Adler to develop 'Jim the Consulting Criminal', correct? Both hands-on activities and mindgames are desirable.

Yes, though I wouldn't mind a Mycroft either. The man would be wonderful to help his character devolpment. I forgot to add him in, simply because I've only written with one or two before. Then of course, I forget that this site is way different from many other sites I've been on.
