((@JWatson Oh man, I do kinda sound like Malfoy.. XD So John's in Gryffindor, Sebastian's in Hufflepuff, Sherlock's in Ravenclaw and Jim's in Slytherin? Sound's like a plan! ))
((@Sebastian A shy little Hufflepuff? That seriously sounds a bit dirty...I do hope JimMoriarty doesn't kill me for kidnapping you for this story ))

((I need your opinion about Anderson's and Donovan's sorting... Let's put Anderson in Ravenclaw to annoy Sherolck or let's put Anderson in Hufflepuf to annoy Sebastian or let's put him into Slytherin to annoy Jim? Donovan: Gryffindor maybe?))
((Lestrade = Gryffindor I guess...? I think he can be quite a BAMF if he likes. But I think Lestrade should be older than Sherlock and John, what do you think?))
((Let's not try to forget Anthea... Did I forget other main characters?))
((Is Irene already on Hogwarts? She'd be a slytherin, no doubt))

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
Sherlock added the new information about Jim in a folder in his Mind Palace. The assumption that James would be a Slytherin was consistent with the other data he had collected about James. He gave him a little nod as a conversation-ender when McGonagall appeared.
Waiting there, in front of the whole school, was a nightmare. It was particularly dull, but Sherlock was lucky his surname began with an H. Until McGonagall reached the H, he would be preoccupied with remembering in which all the first years that were sorted before him. Collecting data was his hobby. He never knew when it may be of help.
Anderson, Terrence caught his attention. This was a boy with brown/blackish, middle-length hair. He had a grumpy face and a runny nose. He looked terrified of the hat. The hat thought a full 2 minutes about his sorting and at last it decided Terrence Anderson was a Ravenclaw. Hmm.... Sherlock was not sure if he liked that. The chance was big he'd become a Ravenclaw too.
The next one that caught his attention, was Donovan, Sally. A little girl with olive skin and very curly brown hair pushed him away from behind to get to the stairs. Her freckled face had an eager expression. She jumped on the stool, that was very high for her and put the hat on. After 5 seconds, it cried: GRYFFINDOR! She got up and looked very pleased with herself, even a bit arrogant.
The letters passed and at the I, Sherlock got a bit nervous again. He shouldn't be, he knew that. But the doubt hit him again. He had lied to James. He had an preference for a house. He'd like to be a Ravenclaw. He thought Gryffindors did not use their thinkingtalent enough and Hufflepuffers were too kind and tolerant. Slytherin... Mycroft's house. Well... he did not want to be in the house where he would be overshadowed by his Prefect Brother Mycroft. And Slytherin was... well... bad?
Holmes, Sherlock
God, it was his turn. Sherlock straightened himself up by stretching his back and putting his shoulders back. He stepped calm (and maybe a bit solemly) up the stairs and climbed with no difficulty on the stool and put the hat on.
So... another Holmes. A foreign voice called. I'm glad. Holmes's are always outstanding. Now, it's your turn. Sherlock swallowed. Now, it really was his turn. Hmmm I see you are brave and honest about your opinion. NOT Gryffindor, Sherlock thought. No? No. NO. Absolutely not. And not a Hufflepuf either. You, my boy are talented. You have a talent in logic figures and connections and you are very clever.
But you have a great desire to be praised too. Your ambition to show your abilities is big and you like to show off. Sherlock could not deny this. Being overshadowed by his brother made you want to prove yourself. So where should I put you...? Slytherin or Ravenclaw?
And then silence.
Sherlock waited and sighed in relief when it began to wonder again. Wait. There's more. You want to keep it private too. You want to do your business private, but acknowledged and thanked for as well... That would make you a perfect

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
Sebastian waited nervously for his name to be called out, listening as Sherlock was placed in Ravenclaw. A girl named Molly was called out after him, being placed in Hufflepuff. He wasn't quite sure what house he should be in, he hadn't thought much about it.
The list seemed to go on forever and finally the people with surnames starting with 'M' had started to be called out. Sebastian was just ahead of Jim on the list probably, their surnames were quite similar.
Moran, Sebastian.
Sebastian felt his insides twist as his name had been called out. He made his way through the other first years, aware of many eyes staring at him. He kept his head down, making no eye contact whatsoever.
He stumbled slightly as he went up the stairs, feeling himself go red and sat on the stool, the hat starting to speak to him. Hmm... now, where shall we put you? You're quite shy and prefer to follow others. I see loyalty... and courage. Bravery. Oh, but you can have an awful temper. Slytherin might be a good place to put you. Or how about Gryffindor?
Silence. The hat had stopped talking, probably figuring out which house to put him in. Sebastian waited for a few minutes, hoping it would just hurry up. He hated having the whole hall staring at him.
Better be... HUFFLEPUFF! it cried suddenly, making Sebastian jump and he got up shakily to make his way over to the Hufflepuff table where others were cheering.

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
Sherlock got up from the stool and walked calmly to the Ravenclaw table. He sighed in relief. He was very content with his house. Inside, he was cheering, but he did not want to show that to all his fellow students. He sat down with his back to the Slytherin table, he wanted to look over the other tables and the other first-years who had to be sorted after him. He sat opposite the Anderson-boy. Sherlock did not give him much attention and focused on the sorting.
As the letter M was called out, Sherlock moved to the tip of his chair. Moriary was to be sorted very soon. But first his comrade, Sebastian. After a minute or less, the hat decided Sebastian was a Hufflepuff. Really? I hadn’t thought that behind im.
When it was Moriarty’s turn, Sherlock hold his breath. How soon would the hat cry his house out?

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
John sighed when he heard the sorting hat put Sherlock in Ravenclaw. Then they went through the M section, and Moran went to Hufflepuff, while Moriarty went to Slytherin. Not surprising, John thought. It was difficult to wait for the Ws... N, O, P, Q......... Then the time finally came for him to be called up.
Watson, John!
John walked up nervously. What house would he be in?
Gryffindor? Oh please let in be Gryffindor! He pleaded as the hat was set on his head.
Hmm, brave, strong, kind..... Hmm this isn't so hard! GRYFFINDOR! cried the sorting hat.
John smiled as he ran towards the Gryffindor table. A Third Year smiled at him and welcomed him to Gryffindor, then turned to his friends.

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
The conversation between Jim and Sherlock was a short one, but Jim had got enough information from their chat to ease his curiosity..for now. The boy had tried to conceal his emotions from Jim, but on the mention of Slytherin his voice became colder and his face hardened. A family of Slytherins...yet he had negative feelings towards the house. Jim came to the conclusion that he must either have an enemy in the house, or a sibling that he rivaled with. Either way, he wondered how Sherlock would react to him if he were to be sorted into Slytherin. Would he try to avoid Jim then? He could try, but Jim always had a way with getting what he wanted, and he wanted to learn more about Sherlock Holmes.
Jim was glad that he would get to observe Sherlock's sorting; he would get to hear things from the hat that he might not learn from the boy himself. His mind wandered to the small blonde boy that Sherlock seemed so interested in. He couldn't see anything that might be interesting to Sherlock, and he wondered what could possibly make him so special. He couldn't help but feel a little jealous of John; Sherlock could do better, and would, when he saw that Sherlock and he were very similar.
He watched Sherlock like a hawk when the hat called his name. Sherlock looked uncomfortable as he approached the hat, and Jim wondered if he was thinking about the hat placing him in Slytherin. He listened intently as the hat explored the inner corners of his mind, taking mental notes. He was a little surprised when Sherlock was put into Ravenclaw; he'd expected him to be placed in Slytherin. Ravenclaw was, after all, for the intellectuals.
Time went by quickly. A few more people were called, and then it was Sebastians turn to be sorted. His sorting went by fairly quickly, with his house being determined as Hufflepuff. Jim was a little disappointed by this; he practically knew that he would be in Slytherin, and now he knew that he would also not know anyone else in the same house.
Moriarty, James
His heart fluttered in his chest. That was his name, and it was being called now. He felt nervous, but at the same time he felt a sort of confidence rushing through his veins. Watching the others had eliminated the mystery behind this ceremony and had allowed him to relax. He knew what was to come.
He made his way to the front, keeping his head held high and his eyes on the hat. He sat in the stool, and the hat was placed on his head. He could feel it shifting on top of him as it searched his mind.
Hmm...we haven't had a Moriarty here in quite some time...
It paused for a moment, seeming to try to find the right words.
Intelligent..perceptive...but there's also something else...a knack for trouble I see...you'll make a worthy addition to SLYTHERIN.
He was excited to be in the famous serpent house, but also disappointed. He hadn't any friends in the house, and only knew of one other person of relevance; the person that Sherlock had negative feelings towards. He decided that he would make it his goal to find that person, and get to know them better. They most likely had information on Sherlock; information that he might find useful.
((I'm SO sorry I haven't updated. Things got a bit crazy around here...))

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
Moriarty's sorting went quick. Almost as soon as the hat touched his head, the hat had screamed SLYTHERIN. It didn't surprise Sherlock. He hoped he had surprised Jim, though. Sherlock was already looking forward to his lessons with Slytherin. He has always considered Slytherin as an interesting house.
As John Watson was sorted, Sherlock shifted on the wooden bench. Gryffindor. At first Sherlock felt a bit disappointed, but a second thought made him change his mind. He didn't need friends. He was smart enough to held his head up. He was a Holmes' family member. They always were above emotional mistakes. Look at Mycroft. Evidence enough.
Professor Dumbledore gave a little speech and sat down as the dinner appeared. It all looked very fresh, according to the structure of the meat and the taste of the vegetables. The apples came from the northern area, he noticed. The apples tasted different from the apples they had in Cambridge. Maybe he should ask Hagrid if he had grown them. Mycroft had told Sherlock once that Hagrid was the keeper of keys. Mycroft didn't explain. He just noted his name and function with a disapproving expression on his face. Sherlock tried to ignore the prejudices most people had, but he couldn't deny that prejudices and stereotypes had (even in a lesser degree) an origin in the truth.
Sherlock didn't eat much. He kept in mind that his lessons started the day after, exactly at half past eight. Digestion slowed him down, he knew. It only made him less attentive of the things that happened around him.
The Anderson boy started to talk to him. After a minute Sherlock asked himself fervently why Anderson was sorted into Ravenclaw. He was a waste of Sherlock's time. It seemed as if Anderson couldn't stop talking rubbish. Sherlock did not react on his comments and just looked through him as if he was air. Sherlock hoped that he would stop soon. He was just about to tell him to shut up, when the ghosts arrived. Sherlock decided to have a talk with them when he had a gap hour. Ghosts had always fascinated him. How could it be possible that when you die, you materialise enough to talk and feel cold, but be ...dead enough to float through walls? Sherlock was indeed fascinated and found a much more interesting conversational partner in the house ghost of Ravenclaw.
A moment, just a moment after Helena Ravenclaw left, Sherlock had the time to stare in the distance. To his surprise, his eyes locked with John Watson for a moment, before Sherlock looked away. I don't need friends. he reminded himself.
Dinner wasn't boring, to Sherlock's surprise. He deduced several things of fellow students. Older students, first years and in between listened to what he had to say about the state of their clothes, the shoes they wore, the way they had cut their hair. Sherlock felt quite smug with all the attention he got. He had the chance to outsmart Anderson, by telling him he was a mollycoddle, according to the way he used his fork, knife and spoon.
After everybody was stuffed and tired, Dumbledore wanted to sing the school song. Everybody stood up and they began to sing. In the corner of his eyes, Sherlock saw Moriarty eyeing him singing. Sherlock frowned. He couldn't be that well audible in this hall, if you calculated the height decibels the students were making, together with the measurements of the hall and the air pressure. Sherlock felt quite uncomfortably looked-at and focused on the voices of the other students and the lyrics. Anderson had a terrible voice.
Hogwarts, Hogwarts, hoggy warty Hogwarts,
Teach us something please,
Whether we be old and bald,
Or young with scabby knees,
Our heads could do with filling,
With some interesting stuff,
For now they're bare and full of air,
Dead flies and bits of fluff,
So teach us things worth knowing,
Bring back what we've forgot,
Just do your best, we'll do the rest,
And learn until our brains all rot.
((We forgot Molly! I find her quite difficult to sort. In my opinion, she is quite brave, but also smart and loyal x) The lyrics were just for fun ))

John didn't like to sing. It reminded him of his mum. Before dad left. Before Harry started drinking...
After the song was done, all the houses went back to their common rooms. The Gryffindor Tower was 'guarded' by the Fat Lady, a portrait who was easily annoyed. Inside, the common room was great. A large fireplace, chairs, couches, places to do homework, tapestries..... But the best of all, John thought, could only be seen from beside the window. Looking out, you could see so far! The grounds, the Quiddich field, the Black Lake, and everything beyond that. It was so peaceful, John wished he could stare out the window all day. Suddenly a first year skipped up and stopped right in front of John.
"Hi! I'm Sally Donovan. Who are you? I'm a first year. Are you looking forward to divination? I am... But I hear the teacher is mad!" And she kept on in this manner for what seemed to John like ages until another girl pulled her away to explore. John took a position by the window once more, and sat quietly there.

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
Once everyone was situatd at their tables, the headmaster began singing the school song. Jim scoffed, not particularly keen to singing. Instead he switched his gaze from the elderly wizard to Sherlock. He grinned slightly when he saw that he was singing along, and was amused that he would even make an effort to fit in. Jim briefly caught the other boys eye before Sherlock quickly looked away.
Sherlock was trying not to linger his eyes at any one point in the room, but after watching him for a little while Jim noticed that he always came back to a particular part of the Slytherin table. After awkwardly craning his neck to see what was so important, he finally realized the cause of Sherlock's ill feelings. A boy, older than them but shorter, was standing exactly where Sherlock had been glancing. His brother. Jim would haveto introduce himself later.
They were eventually lead through a series of passageways to their common room, and Jim wasn't exactly thrilled by the amount of spiderwebs that were sticking to the ends of his robes by the end. The common room was large, and the walls were cast with an eerie shimmer from the huge glass window at the front of the room. At first he thought it was just enchanted, but then he remembered reading something about the Slytherin common room being under the lake. This was going to be interesting...

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
((I'm back again. Queensday is over, family from Germany is on their way home, LET'S GET POTTERLOCKING))
When the singing was over, they were all guided to their common rooms. While walking, Sherlock tried to imprint the route in his head. They climbed from the fifth floor up a spiral staircase, until they stopped before a normal door with a bronze knocker. The prefect explained that the knocker will ask you a question and that you have to answer the question correctly, in order to come into the common room. Sherlock trembled with excitement and as the question was asked, he answered immediately. Heads were turning his way, but he didn't care. The question appeared simple, but Sherlock unraveled the more complex layers in a quick talk. When he was finished, he stared at the knocker, challenging as if it was a living person he was arguing with.
"Magnificent. Welcome to Ravenclaw, Sherlock Holmes" the knocker said and the door swung open. All the other students stood still, gaping at Sherlock, so Sherlock went in first.
The common room was wide and high, with blue tapestries all over the walls. The windows were grand and gave a stunning view on the the lake, Forbidden Forest, Quidditch pitch, Herbology gardens and the surrounding mountains. Before the windows, comfy chairs and sofa's were placed, with fluffy pillows and footstools. A large satue of Rowena Ravenclaw looked down on them. But the most dominant thing in the common room were the books. There were lots and lots of bookcases. It was Ravenclaw Tower. And Sherlock already loved it.
Followed by the others, the prefect came in and muttered something about the dormitories. Sherlock didn't listen, it was obvious where the dormitories would be. He walked to a window and flopped on a sofa, overlooking the grounds. Perfect place for thinking.

Re: Potter!Lock - It's magical.
John's first lessons went well. First he had Divination, then Charms with Hufflepuff, Transfiguration with Ravenclaw, where he was delighted to be seated by Sherlock, and then Potions with Slytherin. All through Transfiguration, Proffessor McGonagal kept glancing at them as if she was saying ' will you please be quiet?'. Fat chance at that. John and Sherlock were buddies from the start. They never left eachother's sight unless it was mandatory. John knew this was going to be a great year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
