Yesterday I saw an old article about the work of Vee Speers, a photographer . Her works about the so called modern courtesans had prompted me to think about Irene Adler. From brief research, it seems that there are two camps when it come to the title 'courtesan', the high class call girl and the 'companion'. The first category usually offer short term gratification while the second is akin to modern hetaerae. Given about what we know about Ms. Adler's service to her clients, an experience of recreational scolding, it seems that she belongs to the first type - short time only. What do you think about it?
